WPL 2024: Mumbai Indians pacer Shabnim Ismail bowls Fastest Ball Ever in Women’s Cricket

Mumbai Indians Women pacer Shabnim Ismail has created by bowling the fastest ball ever in women’s cricket.

The South African broke her own record as she held the record for bowling the fastest ball.

She achieved the monumental feat in women’s cricket during the WPL match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in Delhi.

Ismail’s delivery, clocked at an astounding 132.1 kph, set a new benchmark, marking the first time a female cricketer has surpassed the 130 kph speed barrier since records began.

This historic moment occurred on the second ball of the third over against Capitals’ captain Meg Lanning, who failed to connect with the ball, resulting in an LBW appeal that was ultimately turned down.

Ismail, known for her speed and precision, isn’t new to breaking records. Earlier in the tournament, she logged a delivery at 128.3kph, also against the Delhi Capitals. The veteran pacer also holds the record of bowling the fastest ball in international cricket, when she clocked 128 kph against West Indies in 2016.

Despite creating history in terms of speed, the MI-W bowler had a rough day. She conceded 46 runs in her four overs and her team also succumbed to a defeat against the Capitals, who consolidated their status at the top of the table.

Ismail was roped in by Mumbai in the WPL 2024 auction. She played for UP Warriorz in the inaugural WPL season.
