World Test Championship Standings: India Lose One Spot As New Zealand Topple Australia From Top

Rohit Sharma-led India reclaimed their second spot after winning the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam on Monday but that could not sustain for long as inaugural WTC champions New Zealand dethroned title holder Australia from the top spot.

India have now dipped to third place behind Australia with the hope of better their ranking in the third Test against England in Rajkot, starting on February 15.

Dominant New Zealand cruised to victory on the fourth day of Mount Maunganui Test. Rachin Ravindra’s double century and successive centuries from Kane Williamson powered hosts to set a 529 winning total against depleted Proteas.

In the bowling department, Kyle Jamieson and spinner Mitchell Santner bagged six wickets each to quash South Africa way behind total.

World Test Championship Points Table: India Reclaim Second Place

New Zealand have only played three Tests during this current World Test Championship cycle, with a 1-1 drawn series in Bangladesh towards the end of last year coupled with a victory over the Proteas in the first Test at home ensuring the 2021 champions claim the top place on the standings.
