Raj Limbani’s six, heroic parternship: Sachin, Uday Saharan in candid chat after win in U19 World Cup semis

India’s new hero Sachin Dhas was involved in a candid conversation with his captain Uday Saharan after his side’s thrilling win over South Africa in the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 semi-final.

Sachin shared a match-winning stand with his captain to play a crucial role in India’s come-from-behind victory. Saharan and Dhas added 171 runs, the highest fifth-wicket stand in U19 World Cup history.

When India were struggling at 32 for 4, Dhas stepped up to score a 95-ball 96, narrowly missing out on a century but ensuring India regained control of the game. Sachin’s innings included eleven fours and one six, contributing to a strike rate of 101.05. With this performance, Dhas became the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament, amassing nearly 300 runs in six innings with an average above 70.

My father used to play cricket and is a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar. So even before I was born, he had made up his mind that he would name his son ‘Sachin’ (smiles). It feels really good playing alongside Sachin. He has a lot of positive intent, and it helps me a lot.

He always looks to keep finding boundaries alongside the rotation of strike. We just kept talking about taking the game deep and batting till the very end,” Sachin Dhas said while speaking to his captain Uday Saharan.

Sachin and Uday shared a record stand for the fifth wicket, but the semi-final reached a tense stage with India losing wickets in back-to-back overs.
