Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans Preview

Karachi Kings, who lost their last two matches at the National Stadium to Islamabad United (seven wickets) and Quetta Gladiators (five wickets), desperately need a win to keep their contention alive for the playoffs.

On the other hand, things couldn’t be better for Rizwan & Co, sitting at the top now with five wins in six games. This will be Multan Sultans’ first match in Karachi in PSL 2024 as they got the better of Lahore Qalandars by 60 runs at Gaddafi Stadium five days ago.

There have been multiple match-winners for Multan Sultans this PSL 2024 but top-order batter Reeza Hendricks (286 runs in 6 matches) stood out and has been the backbone of the batting lineup for the Sultans.

Bowling has been their mainstay with as many as four bowlers in the top 10 while seam bowler Mohammad Ali and wrist spinner Usama Mir stand atop with 13 wickets each. Usama took a 6/40 in the last game with the pitch assisting spinners.

For Karachi, Kieron Pollard (196 runs in 5 matches) is Karachi’s highest run scorer and most prominent player but the side has been over-reliant on the burly Trinidadian as the likes of Shan Masood, Shoaib Malik among others have misfired. Opener James Vince, however, showed some positive top-of-the-order with a rapid-fire knock of 37 for the losing cause.

The Pakistani right-arm leg break, Zahid Mahmood, took 2/17 in a game against Quetta and looked distinct. These two players could play a vital role for the Karachi Kings.
