Former spinner Harbhajan Singh showered accolades upon the Indian pace sensation, labeling him as the standout superstar of the ongoing IPL due to his game-changing abilities in the wake of Jasprit Bumrah’s stellar five-wicket haul against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Speaking on ‘Cricket Live’ with Star Sports, Harbhajan underscored Bumrah’s unparalleled impact, noting, “To see him bowl from day one and today, there’s a huge difference. He’s been a great learner of the game.”
Harbhajan emphasized Bumrah’s relentless quest for improvement, affirming, “He wants to learn every day, even if he got five wickets today, he’ll go back and tomorrow, he’ll see the videos of himself and see where he can improve.”
He lauded Bumrah’s calm and composed demeanor under pressure, asserting, “When it comes to pressure situations, no one does better than what he does.”
Comparing Bumrah’s match-winning prowess to that of batting luminaries, Harbhajan declared, “People often talk about Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, because it’s a batter’s game. But, if you talk about the superstars of the game, he’s by far I think, the superstar of the IPL.”
While acknowledging the brilliance of Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan opined, “If you see the bowlers, it’s only Bumrah or Malinga across the format.”
He extolled Bumrah’s humility and work ethic, remarking, “He’s still very humble, very calm, and very, very hardworking…It’s a great lesson for all the youngsters.”
Shifting his focus to Suryakumar Yadav’s impressive performance, Harbhajan expressed, “When Suryakumar Yadav shines, you don’t want to see anyone.”
Drawing parallels with AB de Villiers, he added, “If I was part of any team, he would be my first pick if he comes in the auction.”
