Lahore Qalandars Bear Expense Of Haris Rauf Injury; No Medical Assistance By PCB: Report

A day after the Lahore Qalandars owner criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for terminating the contract of Haris Rauf, it has been reported that the PSL franchise is also bearing the expenses of the pacer’s shoulder injury.

PCB is accused of providing no medical assistance to Haris Rauf after the express pacer injured his shoulder during a PSL 2024 league match against Karachi Kings. Pakistan Super League is a franchise T20 tournament that runs under the supervision of PCB.

Haris Rauf has been at loggerhead with PCB since he turned down the request to play for the Pakistan Test team in Australia right after the nation’s ICC World Cup debacle. However, the reports of the cricket board’s providing no medical assistance to the international cricketer in hours of crisis set a bad precedence.

Similar to Indian cricket, where injured Indian players undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, recovering Pakistan international players recuperate at the NCA in Lahore.

While Haris Rauf is recovering with Lahore Qalandars, the 30-year-old pacer was inquired by a PCB official about his health but no financial assistance was mentioned while no medical panel from the cricket board contacted him too.

Haris Rauf has already filed an appeal against the termination of his PCB central contract, which happened two days before the beginning of the PSL. PCB accused the cricketer of prioritising playing PSL over national duty for skipping the Test series. Cricket Pakistan reported that the possibility of his contract being reinstated is high but will only happen following a review.
