Kolkata Knight Riders: Five Best KKR Players in IPL 2023 Season

Kolkata Knight Riders will be hoping for a blockbuster IPL 2024 season as the new edition of the Indian Premier League starts in less than a month.

KKR have stitched up a fantastic squad for the upcoming edition, which includes some top-notch players signed in the IPL 2024 auction. They roped in Australian pacer Mitchell Starc for Rs 24.75 crore, thus making him the most expensive player in IPL’s history.

The Knight Riders haven’t made it to the playoffs of IPL in the last two seasons. They had a disappointing outing in the last season as well, where the could only manage a 7th-placed finish in the table with just six wins in 14 group stage matches.

Despite having a poor season as a team, KKR had some players who emerged as a star in the IPL 2023 season. In this article, we shall take a look at the best five performers of KKR in IPL 2023-

Suyash Sharma

Suyash Sharma emerged as a top signing for KKR in IPL 2023. The leg-spinner was thrown into the mix without any first-class experience and he showed his class. Suyas ended up picking 10 wickets in 11 matches and has subsequently made his Delhi debut as well.

There is a lot of expectations from Suyash in IPL 2024 and hopefully the 20-year-old can live up to that.

Varun Chakravarthy

After a disappointing 2022 season, Varun Chakravarthy emerged as KKR’s main weapon with the ball last year. The mystery spinner bowled beautifully and picked up 20 wickets in the season.

The 32-year-old Tamil Nadu-born player was brilliant in many matches, with his best spell coming against RCB where he picked up 4 for 15 in a magnificent victory. Chakravarthy also picked up two three fors, coming against Punjab Kings (3/26) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (3/27) respectively.

Nitish Rana

Nitish Rana acted as captain for KKR in the absence of Shreyas Iyer last season. Amid the role of captaincy, the southpaw stood tall with the bat as well. He scored 413 runs at an average of 31.77 and played some brilliant knocks. Rana scored three fifties last season, with his highest score being 75 off 41 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
