Its a shame he is not playing’: James Anderson on star batter’s absence from five-match Test series

England’s veteran pacer James Anderson has said that it’s shameful that Virat Kohli isn’t playing in the ongoing five-match series between India and England.

Both Anderson and Kohli have been involved in an on-field battle for quite some time, where Anderson has dismissed Kohli 10 times and the batter has scored 331 runs against him.

But Kohli opted out from the ongoing series owing to personal reasons, as both he and his wife Anushka Sharma were blessed with a baby boy Akaay, last month.

During an interaction with Jio Cinema, Anderson revealed that he was looking forward to playing against Virat Kohli.

“Yeah, you always want to play against the best players. And it’s been a shame that he’s not been a part of the series. We have had some great battles over the years. But not just for me, I think as a team you want to play against the best in the world and he certainly is that,” Anderson was quoted as saying to Jio Cinema.
