IPL 2024: RCB to win IPL Trophy this year? Virat Kohli may end IPL drought for This Reason, reckons Irfan Pathan

Former India player Irfan Pathan has pinpointed the factor which can help Royal Challengers Bangalore win their maiden IPL trophy this year.

But Irfan Pathan says this year things can definitely change for RCB as they have made some significant tweaks in their setup. Virat Kohli has been devoid of an IPL title but Pathan reckons this year can end the drought for the India stalwart.

“Now that he’s got a team, as far as the batting is concerned, I really feel the batting has got longer now, which wasn’t the case some time ago. And at the same time, a lot of people are not giving RCB a chance because they think their bowling is not the same,” Pathan said while speaking to Star Sports.

But contrary to general belief, Pathan thinks the added pace in their team can aid the bowling and can also fire them towards the title. RCB have the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep in the side, and Lockie Ferguson and Alzarri Joseph were also added in the IPL 2024 auction.

“I also think the bowling could have been better, but what they’ve done is they’ve got express pace on that pitch. If you can bowl 140+ consistently on pitches that are flat like Chinnaswamy’s pitch, sometimes it might work.

You might get surprised that this bowling unit and this unit can lift the trophy. For Virat Kohli, it will be a very special moment because he’ll be wanting it since 2008 but he hasn’t been able to touch that trophy,” Pathan concluded.
