IPL 2024: KKR opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz wins hearts with kind gesture for a fan

Knight Riders’ wicketkeeper, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, won everybody’s hearts with his kind gesture to a fan ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Gurbaz warmly greeted a fan who arrived at the Eden Garden Stadium to meet the KKR players. The opening batter, who was engaged in an intense practice, took time to meet the fan. The fan requested gloves from Gurbaz and the Afghanistan batter didn’t disappoint him as he gifted him his gloves.

The young fan looked elated with Gurabaz’s gift and other fans also clicked a selfie with him. However, this was not the first instance of Gurbaz showcasing his humble nature. During the ODI World Cup in India in October and November, the young sensation distributed money among the homeless people in Ahmedabad. He silently kept money beside the homeless people who were sleeping on the streets.

GURBAZ WINS INDIANS’ HEARTS

“From working tirelessly to raise money for the victims of the Herat Earthquake in Afghanistan earlier this month, to this act of kindness in a foreign land – you inspire us all. God bless you, jaani.” KKR wrote on ‘X’ for Gurbaz’s gesture.

‘DIDN’T EVEN HAVE 10 RUPEES AT ONE POINT’

Gurbaz also opened up on his kind gestures and mentioned that as humans, everyone should help each other. “We are all humans, so we should help each other. In our country, there’s so much poverty, and I was also poor. I didn’t have even 10 rupees with me at one point in time… Didn’t have enough money for my bat and gloves,” Gurbaz told the Telegraph online.

“But when you achieve something and are in a position to help people, then you should. So, I always try to help others and make them happy. That’s what my life is about. Because, we all know this life could be over any day.”

“For me, this is like an examination which I have to pass well and ensure others too are able to clear it. As for Afghanistan, we know how hard things there are for our people. They need help from us in such times, and we should step up,” Gurbaz concluded.

Kolkata Knight Riders will host SunRisers Hyderabad in their season opening match at the iconic Eden Garden Stadium, Kolkata on March 23, Saturday.
