IPL 2024: Harry Brook pulls out of IPL 2024 as Delhi Capitals look for replacement

IPL 2024: Harry Brook has pulled out of the IPL 2024 as Delhi Capitals are looking for a replacement ahead of the IPL 2024 season. The England batter, who was bought by DC for Rs 4 crore has withdrawn his name from the Delhi squad due to personal reasons.

Notably, the 25-year-old batting sensation was part of the England squad for 5-Test series against India as well, but he withdrew his name due to personal reasons and flew back home from the UAE, where England were stationed for the pre-series camp.

“Harry Brook is set to return home with immediate effect for personal reasons from the England Men’s Test tour of India. The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space,” an ECB release has said back then.

SunRisers Hyderabad bought Brook for a whopping sum of INR 13.25 crore in the 2023 season, however he managed only 190 runs at a lowly average of 21. He was expected to play a key role for Capitals who are aiming for their maiden IPL title.

Jason Roy, another England star, withdrew his name from the IPL 2024 on Sunday. Roy, who is currently playing for the Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2024, was set to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He expressed a desire to spend time with family after being on the roads since January.

Delhi Capitals were greeted with positive news on Tuesday after BCCI declared their captain Rishabh Pant fit to play in the IPL 2024 as a wicketkeeper-batter. Pant is set to lead the Delhi franchise after missing out last year due injuries caused by a near-fatal accident in December 2022.

Delhi Capitals will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday, March 23 in Chandigarh.
