Shoaib Bashir claimed the crucial wicket of Shubman Gill on Day 2 of the fourth Test between India and England in Ranchi on February 24. Gill’s dismissal brought the hosts to 86/2 in the 25th over.
Shubman Gill, who scored 38 runs off 65 balls with six boundaries, couldn’t capitalize on his good form, losing his wicket shortly after the Lunch break. Gill, a right-handed batter, had formed an 82-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal for the second wicket after the early departure of captain Rohit Sharma.
The wicket occurred in India’s initial innings when the off-spinner delivered a flighted ball, and Gill, in his defensive attempt, played down the incorrect line. The ball missed the inside edge and struck the pads. Gill contested the decision, but the impact stood as the umpire’s call, as the tracker indicated it hitting the leg stump.
