ILT20 Bans Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad For 12 Months Due To Breach Of Contract

Afghanistan star spinner Noor Ahmad has been banned for 12 months by the UAE’s International League for the breach of contract with his franchise Sharjah Warriors.

Noor becomes the second player after teammate Naveen-ul-Haq to be banned from the league for the same reason.

ILT20 stated that Noor opted against signing the retention notice ahead of the recently concluded second season of the tournament. As per the release, the one-year extension contract had the ‘same terms and conditions in accordance with the Player Agreement terms’ that Noor overlooked to play in SA20 for Durban Supergiants.

Following the spinner’s refusal to sign the agreement, Sharjah Warriors approached the ILT20 to intervene in the matter.

“The ILT20’s three-member Disciplinary Committee, which includes the league’s Chief Executive Officer David White, Head of Security and Anti-Corruption Col. Azam, and the member of Emirates Cricket BoardZayed Abbas, investigated the matter and separately heard both parties, Noor and Sharjah Warriors, before delivering its final verdict of a 12-month ban to Noor,” the statement read.

Noor was initially sentenced to a 20-month suspension, the same as Naveen-ul-Haq, but because the former was a minor entering the first ILT20 season, the punishment was reduced to 12 months.
