‘He needs to play some cricket and come back’: Rahul Dravid on Ishan Kishan

After India’s win against England in the second Test, head coach Rahul Dravid addressed questions about Ishan Kishan’s comeback into the team.

Kishan, who hasn’t played since November due to personal reasons, has been on a break even from domestic cricket.

Dravid emphasized that there’s always a way back for any player, including Kishan. He clarified that the decision to take a break was Kishan’s, and whenever he feels ready to return, he’ll be welcomed. While Dravid mentioned the importance of playing some cricket before making a comeback, he also stressed that it’s ultimately Kishan’s choice.

Regarding KS Bharat’s performance, who struggled with the bat in the second Test, Dravid acknowledged that young players like Bharat take time to develop. While Bharat’s keeping was good, Dravid noted that he could improve his batting.

Looking ahead to the third Test in Rajkot, the Indian team management will have time to decide the playing XI. They’ll also assess the injury status of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, who missed the second Test. However, the focus will primarily be on Virat Kohli’s return to the team after skipping the first two Tests due to personal reasons.
