Former coach destroys Bangladesh Cricket Board just before Pakistan tour

Bangladesh as a country is going through a very tough time amid riots between the Awami League and the protestors of the country. Since former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled from the country, there have been disputes across the country.

In a situation like this, Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus’s interim government was chosen to run the country’s next government after Hasina’s expulsion. He is now the man in charge of bringing back democracy in the country until the next elections happen in the country.

To bring back control within its cricketing circles the Yunus-led government chose renowned cricket coach and analyst of the country Nazmul Abedin Fahim to run its cricket and make necessary decisions. He announced that he is making some new guidelines to reform the cricketing structure in the country.

Nazmul Abedin Fahim, the former coach and an eminent face in Bangladesh cricket has worked in different capacities in BCB for 14 years, including the BCB High Performance Unit, BCB Game Development, and the board’s women’s wing.

He visited the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday and said that he had prepared a guideline to reform cricket in the country. In his speech, he slammed the Bangladesh Cricket Board for not having functioned properly saying that it has not made the most of the opportunities.

Bangladesh Cricket Board Not A Disciplined Organisation: Nazmul Abedin Fahim, Former Coach

“Having had the opportunity to work here and observe closely, I don’t think the BCB is a particularly disciplined organization. From the outside, it might seem like the BCB is an excellent organization because of its outward glamour,” Nazmul said in Dhaka.

“However, the BCB hasn’t made the most of its opportunities. This has been due to various reasons, including several intentional mistakes. I believe changes are necessary here. The internal indiscipline acts that occur need to be addressed. Strengthening these aspects could resolve many of the crises we face.

If a process is in place, why wouldn’t we perform well in cricket? We shouldn’t be overly thrilled about winning against Nepal, but that’s what has happened. I believe that with proper efforts, Bangladesh cricket can go a long way,” he said further.

He further criticized the people in power within the board saying that they did not exercise their powers properly to bring out a change in Bangladesh cricket and thus blamed them for the downfall of the country’s cricket.

“If they (board directors) were truly dedicated to serving cricket, they would have come forward. I don’t believe they were genuine servants of the game. They had their own agendas, and they fulfilled those. We’ve witnessed the downfall of cricket. Whether it’s club cricket or the entire sport, it has been severely damaged,” he added further.

Najmul further said the change lies with responsible leadership within the people who have the power to change the administration with their decision-making.

Meanwhile, amid the political unrest, Bangladesh players will be traveling earlier to Pakistan for their two-match series against the Men In Green. the first of the two Tests between the two teams starts on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
