Aaron Finch gives advice to a tottered England team to stage comeback in Test series: Swallow your pride

Former Australian cricketer, Aaron Finch gave a word of advice to the England team, who have been bamboozled by a resurgent Indian side in the ongoing Test series.

Finch asked the visitors to swallow their pride and have some game awareness.Â

The England team’s Bazball approach received its biggest humbling during the 3rd Test match in Rajkot. India handed the visitors their biggest ever defeat in Test cricket since 1934 by a 434-run margin. After losing the 1st Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad, India have staged a comeback to lead the series 2-1.Â

‘JUST SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE’

“I think there needs to be game awareness. They’re getting so far ahead of the game because they’re scoring quickly and that’s just because of their intent. Sometimes, just for a session, just swallow your pride and get the game on your terms. Their openers are giving them a great platform, but they’re just not capitalising on it,” said Finch during ESPN Cricinfo’s show ‘Around the Wicket’.

HOW ENGLAND’S BAZBALL WAS HAMMERED IN RAJKOT?

England’s aggressive brand of cricket and their approach drew huge criticism from experts after the team crumbled at a mere 122 runs while chasing a massive total of 557 in Rajkot. The Indian team gave the visitors a taste of their own medicine by Bazballing the English bowlers’ deliveries out of the park while batting.

England’s openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett have shared 4 fifty-plus stands in the 6 innings so far, but the rest of the lineup haven’t been able to get going and build on the good start. The same track on which Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his 2nd consecutive double century with a record-equalling 12 sixes in an innings, saw the English batters not putting up a good fight.Â
