The Delhi Capitals (DC) announced on Friday that Australian all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk will replace Proteas spinner Lungisani Ngidi in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The IPL statement announced that the South African seamer would miss the forthcoming season owing to an injury.
It was claimed that Fraser-McGurk joined the Delhi-based franchise with a reserve fee of Rs 50 lakhs.
‘Delhi Capitals (DC) named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joins DC for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac,’ IPL stated.
Last season for miserable for Delhi Capitals as they came in the ninth spot with just 10 points. They won five and lost nine games, with a run rate of -0.808.
Earlier on Tuesday, BCCI released a crucial update on Rishabh Pant’s recuperation from injury and revealed that the wicketkeeper batter has been pronounced fit to take part in the forthcoming IPL 2024. He even skipped last year’s ICC Cricket World Cup at home.
Delhi Capitals will play their two home games against CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders in Vizag on March 31 and April 3, respectively, as Arun Jaitley Stadium will remain unavailable to host the matches due to recent conclusion of WPL, till then the pitches will be under maintenance.
