Peshawar Zalmi will look to bounce back from their latest defeat and do the double over table-toppers Multan Sultans when they face-off in match 21 of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Tuesday (March 5).
Babar Azam’s fourth-placed Peshawar Zalmi are fresh from tasting their third defeat of the season, while Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan Sultans, who have already confirmed their spot in the PSL 2024 playoffs, head into the match on a three match winning streak.
Peshawar Zalmi failed to chase down 197 against Islamabad United less than 24 hours ago at the same venue in Rawalpindi. Both the in-form openers Babar and Saim Ayub fell cheaply, but Aamer Jamal showed his ability as a batter with a 49-ball 87 coming late in the innings.
Multan Sultans, on the other hand, rode on a fifty from skipper Rizwan and an unbeaten century from Usman Khan to set a target of 190 for Karachi Kings, who could only get to 169 in their allotted 20 overs after a brilliant spell of 2 for 29 in 4 overs by Usama Mir.
While Peshawar Zalmi has lost their recent fixture, Babar & Co will take confidence from being the only team to beat Multan Sultans so far this season in the reverse fixture at their own backyard in Multan.
Zalmi will aim for repeat result from last month when they face Sultans for the 15th time in HBL PSL, and for the second time at the Rawalpindi venue, where the two sides played one of most memorable contests in which Sultans rode on Rilee Rossouw century to chase down 243 in 2023.
