OTD: Virat Kohli becomes 12th Indian to play 100 Test matches

Back on March 4, 2022, Virat Kohli became only the 12th Indian cricketer to play 100 Tests. Kohli reached the landmark in the match against Sri Lanka at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Prior to the match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) felicitated the modern-day great. Kohli also got a guard of honour from his teammates.

Kohli scored 45 runs off 76 balls with 5 fours in the 1st innings before left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya accounted for his wicket. After opting to bat first, India racked up a massive score of 574 for 8 (declared) in 129.2 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja, one of India’s greatest Test all-rounders, scored an unbeaten 175 off 228 balls with 17 fours and 3 sixes. India went on to win the match by an innings and 222 runs.

Kohli is currently on a break after he recently became father to a baby boy with wife Anushka Sharma.

In 113 Tests, Kohli has scored 8848 runs at an average of 49.15 and a strike-rate of 55.56 with 29 hundreds and 30 fifties to show for his efforts.
