IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli missing Test series ‘a shame’, says James Anderson

James Anderson has admitted that it’s a shame that Virat Kohli isn’t part of the ongoing Test series between India and England.

Anderson and Kohli have had quite a rivalry so far on the field, with the England pacer dismissing the star batter 10 times.

Kohli, at the same time, scored 331 runs against Anderson.

However, Kohli had withdrawn from the series due to personal reasons, as the Indian star and Anushka Sharma welcomed his second child, baby boy Akaay, last month.

Speaking to JioCinema, Anderson said that he was looking forward to playing against the ‘best in the world’ Kohli.

“Yeah, you always want to play against the best players. And it’s been a shame that he’s not been a part of the series. We have had some great battles over the years. But not just for me, I think as a team you want to play against the best in the world and he certainly is that,” Anderson said on

English fans will be thankful Kohli is not playing: Anderson

Anderson further stated that the England fans would have been happy not to see Kohli play in the series. However, the pacer said that he was looking forward to the battle as he had found Kohli to be a player he has found challenging to bowl at over the years.

“I guess English fans will be thankful he’s not playing because he’s such a quality player. But from our point of view you want to test yourself, you want to come up against the best and he’s been someone who I’ve found really challenging to bowl at over the years and it’s a shame he’s not been playing,” Anderson added.
