Stuart Broad Reveals Team He Supports In IPL: ‘Looking Like Good Franchise, And I Like The Kit’

Stuart Broad, regarded as one of the finest pacers of all time, hung up his boots from international cricket after the Ashes 2023 in July.

The England great walked away with 847 wickets across formats in 167 Tests, 121 ODIs and 56 T20Is.

Broad recently revealed which team he supports in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that he generally backs teams that his friends play for. Answering the question, the 37-year-old said, “What team do I support in the IPL? Generally, I try and support my friends, whoever they are playing for.”

“I must admit, Rajasthan Royals, where Jos Buttler is and Jofra Archer used to be… looking like a really good franchise, and I quite like the pink kit,” Broad added.

Rajasthan Royals have a close association with Englishmen, with players such as Jos Buttler and Tom Kohler-Cadmore in the squad. They have also had Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Tom Curran, Owais Shah, Dimitri Mascarenhas and Michael LumbDimitri Mascarenhas and Michael Lumb in the past.

Buttler has played 72 matches for the team since joining them in 2018 and is their third-highest scorer ever. He has scored 2,696 runs at an impressive average of 42.12 and an explosive strike rate of 148.78. Only Ajinkya Rahane (3,098) and Sanju Samson (3,403) have scored more runs than Buttler.

Meanwhile, Broad never played in the IPL although he was signed by Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) in 2011. He was bought for INR 1.84 crore in the 2011 IPL Mega Auction but was ruled out before the start of the season due to an injury. He never featured in the league again.
