Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Giants (GG) will lock horns in the fifth match of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 on Tuesday (February 27) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

RCB rode on fifties from Richa Ghosh and S Meghana to set a total of 157/6 in their allotted 20 overs before Asha Shobana’s five-wicket haul restricted the UP Warriorz to 155/7.

GG, on the other hand, were restricted to 126/9 in 20 overs thanks to Amelia Kerr’s four-wicket effort and Shabnim Ismail’s three wicket haul before Harmanpreet Kaur and Kerr saw MI home with 11 balls to spare

During season 1 in the round robin stage, GG won the first encounter against RCB at the Brabourne Stadium, where RCB avenged the loss in the reverse fixture. Both their clashes have been high-scoring affairs.

In the first fixture, Sophia Dunkley (65 off 28) and Harleen Deol (67 off 45) powered GG to 201/7 in 20 overs before Ashleigh Gardner’s three-wicket haul helped restrict RCB to 190/6, sealing an 11-run win for the Giants. Sophie Devine (66 off 45) top-scored for RCB on that night.

In the reverse fixture, Devine (99 off 36) made the highest score in WPL as RCB made light work of the run chase of 189 with 8 wickets in hand and 27 balls to spare. For Giants, Laura Woolvardt top-scored with a 42-ball 68.
