IND vs ENG 2nd Test: England Reach 32/0 At Lunch On Day 2 After Jaiswal Double Ton Powers India To 396

England reached 32/0 at lunch on day 2 of the second Test after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden double century saw India post 396 at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Saturday (February 3).

After Jaiswal’s 209 powered India to 396 in 112 overs, England openers Zak Crawley (15*) and Ben Duckett (17*) remained unscathed in the 6 overs before the lunch break in Vizag.

Jaiswal’s sublime knock off 290 balls was the higlight of the first session. The 22-year-old opener was a cut above the others, who failed to convert starts with 34 from Shubman Gill being the second highest score in the Indian innings.

Starting with an overnight score of 336/6 on day 2, India could only add another sixty runs in the first session with majority of the runs coming from the bat of Jaiswal, who added 30 runs to his unbeaten 179.

Jaiswal, who had scored his second Test hundred on day 1, continued his charge with bat in hand for India and kept the scoreboard ticking while stitching up an effective partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin.

However, England fought back through veteran pacer James Anderson, who claimed Ashwin’s wicket in the 101st over before removing Jaiswal in the 107th over to finish with figures of 3 for 47 in 25 overs.

Rehan Ahmed then provided England with another wicket as he removed Jasprit Bumrah for 6. India fell short of 400 as Shoaib Bashir removed Mukesh Kumar to bundle out hosts for 396.
