Pakistan U19’s Ubaid Shah takes inspiration from ‘brother’ Naseem before World Cup 2024 semis vs Australia

Young fast bowler Ubaid Shah said that he looks up to his brother Naseem Shah for inspiration. Even as Naseem is already a recognised figure in Pakistan cricket, 18-year-old Ubaid is making a name for himself while playing in the ongoing U19 World Cup on South African soil.

Won’t give a second chance: Ubaid Shah

Ubaid also talked about Pakistan U19 wanting to make amends in the semi-final against Australia to be played on Thursday, February 8 in Benoni.

Last year, Pakistan lost to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the semi-final of the U19 Asia Cup and Ubaid didn’t want his team to give Australia a ‘second chance’

“We reached the semi-final of the Asia Cup as well and lost closely. We will learn from our mistakes and improve on them. We won’t give a second chance now to another team,” Shah added.

Ubaid and Naseem are all set to play together after being picked by Islamabad United to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.

Naseem hasn’t played competitive cricket since Pakistan’s match against India in the Asia Cup back in September 2023.
