Rohit Sharma declared world's best batter, Virat Kohli kicked aside as Mohammad Zahid makes huge claim

Former Pakistan bowler, Mohammad Zahid lavished rich praise on India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma. He called the opening batter the best in the world currently, highlighting his ability to face fast bowlers.

India captain Rohit Sharma at the age of 37 has taken his game to the next level. The right-hander has adopted the fairless approach and has made a mockery of the bowlers in all three formats of the game, scoring runs consistently at a brisk rate.

Rohit Sharma after the T20 World Cup 2022 brought a change in his batting. He showed the way to his team and since then he hasn’t looked back. He has been extremely fearless while batting at the top and is taking on bowlers right from the ball 1 irrespective of the format.

Rohit Sharma led from the front in the ICC World Cup 2023, scoring around 600 runs and took his team to the final. After that he made sure that he continued performing the same way and came up with a similar performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, scoring 257 runs and taking the team to title victory.

After that, Rohit Sharma continued the same approach in the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The opening batter was by far the best batter among both the teams as he looked unfazed by the tough pitch at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Rohit Sharma came out all guns blazing in all three games. The opening batter slammed two half-centuries in the first two games and then played another brutal knock. But after he got out, Indian batters struggled to get going and went on to lose the last two games, with the first game ending in a tie.

With the kind of batting display, Rohit Sharma has been showing over the last few years, it’s fair to say that there’s no one close to him. The batter has hit his purple patch and would be keen to carry on the same form and take India to glory in the Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit Sharma is so gifted – Mohammad Zahid

Mohammad Zahid, a former Pakistan international cricketer, was in awe of Rohit Sharma. He said that the batter never gets bogged down by fast bowlers. While calling the Indian captain gifted, he said that the opening batter picks lengths early. Speaking on Basit Ali’s YouTube channel, he explained:

“Rohit Sharma is the best batter in the world at the moment, he plays fast bowlers so well – I have never seen him getting bogged down against fast bowling, he is so gifted, picks the length early”.

Rohit Sharma now will be seen in action when India takes on Bangladesh in the Test series in September this year. The batter would be key for his team in the series as well and would want to help his team win and then head into the Australia series on high.
