SRH vs CSK Scorecard, IPL 2024, Match 18 Highlights: Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram and bowlers star for Hyderabad in 6-wicket win over Chennai

The 18th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday (5th April). The match between the two heavyweights of the league took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad came at the top of the game as they produced a magnificent effort with the bat and ball. They made full use of the home conditions and thumped the Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets to register their second win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Chennai Super Kings were asked to bat first and it wasn’t the kind of outing they would’ve wanted. Rachin Ravindra fell early for 12 runs off 9 balls in the 4th over. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad looked and played some crisp shots in his innings but couldn’t carry on.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 26 runs off 21 balls as he was removed by Shahbaz Ahmed. All-rounder Shivam Dube seemed to be batting at a different surface as he took the attack to Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers and slammed them all over the park, taking the spinners out of attack.

Ajinkya Rahane (35) supported him well as the duo together added 65 runs for the third wicket. Dube fell short of just 5 runs of his half-century as he scored 45 runs off 24 balls. He had a strike rate of over 187 and helped the team get some quick runs on the board at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

After he got out, Chennai Super Kings batters struggled to get going and couldn’t score runs freely. Daryl Mitchell (13) didn’t couldn’t make an impact but Ravindra Jadeja (31*) played a vital innings for his team while batting down the order. Based on the collective effort, CSK ended with 165 runs on the board.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Pat Cummins, Shahbaz Ahmad and Jaydev Unadkat picked one wicket each. They bowled magnificently well in the later half of the game and gave away only 50 runs in the last 7 overs in the game.

It was a dream start for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the chase as they got off the flyer. Abhishek Sharma came out all guns blazing and made sure that he put the opposition under pressure right from the start. He scored 37 runs off just 12 balls to entertain the crowd.

After he got out, Travis Head (31) played a vital innings along with Aiden Markram, who looked solid at the crease. The South African batter slammed a magnificent half-century for his team but couldn’t finish the innings on high as he was trapped in lbw by Moeen Ali for 50 runs.

Heinrich Klaasen, however, made sure that he stayed there till the end and took his team home. The keeper-batter scored 10 runs whereas Nitish Kumar Reddy (14*) hit some blows in the end and took their team to the 6-wicket win in the game.
