Notably, a waist-high full toss is called a no-ball, which is followed by a free-hit to the batter. But sometimes, a waist-high full toss called by the on-field umpires becomes a topic of controversy, which changes the outcome of the game.
But to make it correct, the BCCI is developing a new technique to minimise the error. This new technique is used to take correctness to the max when it comes to a waist-high full toss. The BCCI persons are measuring the heights of all the IPL players by measuring tape. All this information will be provided to those who are hawk-eye operators. They will discuss this with the third umpire to determine whether the no-ball is waist-high or not.
In an interview with TOI, a BCCI source confirmed, “This data will help in judging the waist-high full toss to a particular batsman better.” This will certainly help to determine the decision on the basis of the particular height of the batter who is at the crease.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2024 already had the Smart Replay System as the new rule, where the Hawk-eye operator sits with the third umpire to get real-time analysis through TV images. There are eight different cameras installed for Hawk-Eye to make the real-time image operation smooth.
