IPL 2024: ‘He’s treasure’ – RCB responds to Murali Karthik’s controversial remark on Yash Dayal after PBKS tie

Match 6 of the IPL 2024 edition saw the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) host the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday (March 25).

Opting to bowl first, Faf du Plessis-led RCB rode on two wickets each from Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell to restrict Punjab to 176-6. In reply, Bengaluru reached the target in 19.2 overs with Virat Kohli scoring a sublime 49-ball 77 whereas Mahipal Lomror (8-ball 17*) and Dinesh Karthik (10-ball 28*). During the game, former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Murali Karthik’s remark on Yash Dayal — who joined RCB this year after being released from Gujarat Titans (GT) — made heads turn.

During the commentary, Karthik was heard saying, “Someone’s trash is someone’s treasure” (referring to his move to RCB from Gujarat). Post the match, RCB’s official handle on X, formerly Twitter, shared their response to the former spinner’s controversial remark. Here is the post:

IPL 2024: RCB’s Virat Kohli REVEALS why he stepped out to play pacers against Punjab Kings

Talking about Dayal’s outing versus Punjab, he returned with an economical spell, 4-0-23-1. In RCB’s opening game, which was the season-opener where they lost to the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk, the 26-year-old had an expensive spell, giving 38 runs in 3 overs for a wicket.

The youngster will be hoping to play maximum games for the three-time finalists RCB this season and make a strong mark. In IPL 2023, he had a terrible time and was smashed for 5 sixes in the final over, where he failed to defend 29 in GT’s loss to KKR. Rinku Singh hit him for 5 maximums.

Thus, Dayal will be desperate for a revival this time around. RCB next host Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Friday (March 29).
