Pat Cummins has said that he wants the Sunrisers Hyderabad to get off to an aggressive start this season as he takes over as the captain for the IPL 2024 season.
Cummins, who was SRH’s big money buy, took over from Aiden Markram after the Hyderabad-outfit had a season to forget in 2023. The Australia ODI captain would have his first session with his new team on March 20.
The Aussie skipper would say he looked good in orange after an intense session.
“Well, I picked the singlet, which is not normally me, but it was the only shirt I found. The rest are packed away. So yeah, maybe next time I’ll be wearing sleeves, but orange looks great. Uniforms. Awesome,” said Cummins.

Cummins said that he is looking to work closely with some of the guys he doesn’t know that well in the side and get to know what they would want from their skipper during the tournament.
The SRH skipper said that he wants his side to get off to the best possible start and felt they have a good mix of youth and experience in their squad.
“I mean, the plans are you know, I work really closely with the guys that I don’t know too well. Get to know them. Get to know what they need from me out in the middle. And then, you know, work with coaches and what they want to see out of me as well as a player.”
“So, a bit of planning to go and then just wanna get off to a really good start. T20s are hard. Kolkata’s a good team, but I think just wanna see a really aggressive, start to the season.”
“I think we’ve got a great mix. We’ve got a couple more experienced guys like Bhuvi. Obviously Aiden Markram captain last year. But we’ve got some exciting young talent. I’m super excited to see guys like Abhishek, Umran Malik, these kind of guys I’ve only seen a little bit of but super excited, so I think fans should be pretty pumped for the season ahead,” said Cummins.
SRH will face KKR in their opening match at the Eden Gardens on March 23.
