Knight Riders’ big money man Mitchell Starc has finally reached the team’s camp ahead of the IPL 2024 season on March 17.
The KKR Instagram profile shared a set of images of the left-arm pacer at the camp and he will be expected to start training from Monday.
“It’s a Star(c)y Knight!” read the caption on the post from KKR.
Starc is currently the costliest player in the history of the IPL and was initially bought by KKR during the 2018 auction. However, he would pull out from the season and was subsequently released from the team.
How important will Starc be for KKR in IPL 2024?
Starc is clearly excited about making his return to the IPL after having played the 2014 and 2015 editions as a Royal Challengers Bangalore player.
“It’s been 8 years, I think. Back to KKR where I was supposed to be in 2018. So I’ll be back there for the chance to pull on the gold and purple. I guess my memories are a few and far between of back in 2014 and 2015 with RCB but yeah, really excited to get stuck in. Obviously, a new group of players. A bunch of guys I certainly haven’t met or been able to work with before.”
“A couple of guys that I’ve, international guys that I’ve played against and come across. Yeah, it’s gonna be exciting. It’s definitely a new challenge. But yeah, it’ll be exciting. It’s always a bit of a circus when it is the best T20 league in the world. So, yeah I look forward to it,” said Starc.
Starc has 34 wickets during his two seasons with RCB and will be expected to lead the KKR pace attack during IPL 2024. KKR will start their new season with a home fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.
